Our Ironic Inspiration

When we were creating WATATAWA, we thought long and hard about the kind of company we wanted to be – and also found it cathartic to discuss the type of organisation we didn’t want to become. It was primarily meant as an internal exercise but we showed it to a few people we respect and they thought it deserved a broader audience. So here’s what, ironically, motivates us to be different…

Companies that say one thing but do another… Organisations with opaque values and shallow beliefs… Businesses where the most senior talent is unduly burdened with internal bureaucracy, politics and justification work… Companies that pay lip service to cultural differences or drive strategy solely from the centre… Egotistical, greedy leaders… Superficial spin and corporate myopia… Companies that call themselves “global” because they have dots on a map… Firms that believe they can “manage” reputation with rhetoric… Organisations that fail to grasp the new rules of engagement and the need for change…
