Bill Rylance
Founder & CEO
Bill’s strategic communications and business leadership experience span more than 25 years in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He worked for Burson-Marsteller in London, Bahrain and Seoul before establishing his own agency, Merit Communications, in Korea. When Merit was acquired he took on the role of Regional CEO, responsible for 16 Asian markets and 500 people, and led the Burson-Marsteller Asia-Pacific network through a decade of profitable growth. He was later appointed Global Vice-Chairman Worldwide responsible for affiliates and acquisitions and led the firm’s significant acquisition and entry into India. His experience includes working on major public affairs and international relations issues—among them the sovereign communications programme for South Korea as it sought to recover from the Asian financial crisis. He was also senior adviser to Korean government during Seoul’s hosting of the 1988 Olympic Games and Korea’s bid and hosting of the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Bill is a graduate of London Business School.
Bill’s sporting passions are Liverpool Football Club and mountaineering. In recent memory, only one of them has put him on top of the world (clue: it’s not Liverpool).
