The WATATAWA Trust
The WATATAWA Charitable Trust will reflect our founding values. We want to be a company that runs its business to the very highest standards but also makes a contribution to society. Sounds clichéd? Well sorry but that doesn’t stop it from being true.
The WATATAWA Trust is created by our company and will be awarded full A-Class shares in the business. As an equity holder, the Trust has a seat on our Board. What this means is that we’re not just morally obliged but legally bound to allocate a share of profits to the causes the Trust chooses to support. Of course, we have to generate traction, growth, revenue and profit to make our commitment mean something in real terms but that’s the reality facing any commercial enterprise that also wishes to be a social benefactor.
Our goal is to contribute to causes or charities supporting disadvantaged children in Asia—based on the belief that every child has an inalienable right to love, health and education. The WATATAWA Board will discuss whether the Trust commits to a single cause such as an established children’s charity, selects a series of worthy recipients, or establishes a new philanthropic initiative.
It’s an undertaking and obligation in which we take enormous pride.
