Zubaidah has over 15 years of experience in journalism and communications in Southeast Asia. At WATATAWA, she provides strategic communications counsel to Asia-Pacific clients in resources, financial services and technology sectors, including policy communications for a leading social media network. She has also provided analyses and communications support to national and state governments of Indonesia and Malaysia and contributed political commentaries to respected think-tanks.
Zubaidah began her career in journalism with The Straits Times covering Singapore issues and was later appointed the newspaper’s Indonesia Bureau Chief, leading a team covering politics, economics and social issues. Zubaidah speaks fluent Bahasa Indonesia and Malay, languages that connect with over half of the ASEAN population.
Zubaidah served as a board member of the Jakarta Foreign Correspondents Club, where she moderated panel discussions with ministers, CEOs and senior personnel from organisations including the World Bank and the United Nations. She holds a Masters in International Relations from S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, NTU (Singapore).
